Sterndale Singers with Bel Canto Choir, Firth Hall, 3:30-4:50

A host of voices leap and bound through this energetic, operatic mass

Before writing his famous full-scale operas, including Madama Butterfly and La Boheme, an 18-year-old Giacomo Puccini blended opera with church music to create the exuberantly rich and colourful Messa di Gloria. There’s bound to be an extra air of jubilation at this performance too, as the Sterndale Singers celebrate their 40th Anniversary in 2017. Sterndale are joined by the Mexborough and Swinton-based choir, Bel Canto.
