Passionate paths through the deep Russian snow

Emotional turmoil drives Dmitri Shostakovich’s uniquely expressive Cello Sonata; conversational melodies tumble forth, tender and pleading. One of Sheffield’s youth orchestras accompany star soloist Olly Coates (best known for his work with Radiohead and for film) to perform this drama set against the bleak Russian winter, and if that’s not enough, Cello and electric keyboard become one in Platform 4’s Upright Stance.
